We Play for SRK Volleyball Camp 2019

When: Monday, July 8, 2019 – Thursday, July 11, 2019
Where: Williamsport High School, 5 South Clifton Drive, Williamsport, MD

The 2019 edition of the We Play for SRK Volleyball Camp was the largest camp we have had to date! 72 girls from Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Virginia attended. All had the opportunity to learn basic volleyball skills and develop their skills through practice and team play. Each camper received a t-shirt and their own SRK-imprinted camp volleyball. The 2019 camp was again led by Becky Fletcher, Head Volleyball Coach at Frostburg State University. Becky was assisted by Williamsport coach Karen Moyer, as well as student-athletes from Frostburg State University and Williamsport High School.

Becky was assisted by Williamsport-area coaches Emily Crabtree, Lea Michael, and Karen Moyer, as well as student-athletes from Frostburg State University and Williamsport High School.

Spikes for Sam Coed Volleyball Tournament 2016

When: Sunday, July 24, 2016; 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Where: Williamsport High School, 5 South Clifton Drive, Williamsport, MD

The third Spikes for Sam Coed Volleyball Tournament was organized by Samantha's brother Jack, and had a wonderful turnout with over 200 people in attendance! The 20 teams competing had a great time playing volleyball, enjoying friends and raising $2,700 for the Memorial Fund. It was a hot day, but during the break there was a watermelon eating contest that helped people cool off. We are thankful for the many volunteers that helped to make this popular community event a success.

We Play for SRK Volleyball Camp 2016

When: Monday, June 13, 2016 – Thursday, June 16, 2016

The We Play for SRK Volleyball Camp was a huge success in 2016! The camp has become the largest fundraiser for the Memorial Fund, raising over $6,000 each year. In 2016 there were 65 girls that had the opportunity to learn basic volleyball skills and develop their skills through practice and team play. At the end of camp each girl received a camp t-shirt and their own SRK imprinted sack pack. The 2016 camp was again led by Becky Fletcher, Head Volleyball Coach at Frostburg State University. Becky was assisted by our own Emily Crabtree and a group of wonderful camp counselors from Williamsport High School and Frostburg State University.

Spikes for Sam Coed Volleyball Tournament 2015

When: Sunday, July 26, 2015; 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Where: Williamsport High School, 5 South Clifton Drive, Williamsport, MD

The second Spikes for Sam Coed Volleyball Tournament had a wonderful turnout with 22 teams competing and raising funds for the Memorial Fund. It was a beautiful day for remembering Samantha, playing volleyball, and enjoying good food and good friends. When not playing volleyball, participants tried to win raffle prizes donated by local businesses, took advantage of a dunk tank and played corn hole. We are thankful for the many volunteers that helped to make this event a success, and give BIG thanks to Jodi and Karli Grimes for organizing the event which raised $3,500 for the Memorial Fund.

The We Play for SRK Volleyball Camp continued to grow in 2015 - this year's camp had over 65 girls in two sessions! Girls had the opportunity to learn basic volleyball skills and develop their skills through practice and team play. At the end of camp each girl received a camp t-shirt and their own SRK imprinted camp volleyball. The camp is made possible through the hard work of Emily Crabtree and Lea Michael of the Williamsport School District and guest camp director Becky Fletcher from Frostburg State University - Huge thanks to Emily, Lea and Becky. Also thanks to the camp counselors for their efforts working with the next generation of volleyball stars. The camp raised over $5,000 for the Memorial Fund!
Zumbathon® Event

When: Saturday, March 7, 2015; 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
Where: Williamsport High School, 5 South Clifton Drive, Williamsport, MD

We are so thankful for the continued community support of the Memorial Fund at events like the 2015 Zumbathon. Approximately 50 people came out to participate in the 2015 Zumbathon Event, raising over $800 for scholarships. Many thanks to Zumba Fitness Instructor Liz Martz, who led supporters in two hours of Zumba for a great cause. This was the second time that Liz has led the Zumbathon Event and we can't thank her enough for her efforts.

The 2014 We Play for SRK Volleyball Camp was a huge success! The 2014 camp had over 60 girls in two sessions (grades 3-5 and grades 6-8)! Thanks to camp directors Becky Fletcher & Kevin Larkin from Frostburg State University and Emily Crabtree & Lea Michael from the Williamsport School District for all of their work planning and running the camp. It was a wonderful week for the girls. Also thanks to the camp counselors for their efforts working with the next generation of volleyball stars. The camp raised $3,000 for the Memorial Fund!

Samantha Kelly Memorial Benefit & Ride 2014

When: Sunday, May 4, 2014; 12:00 noon - 5:00 pm
Where: Williamsport Redmen Lodge, 16129 Lappans Road, Williamsport, MD

The second annual Benefit & Ride brought out 250 motorcycle riders and a total of over 450 people for a day to honor and remember Samantha. The Williamsport Red Men Tribe #84 Riders Club hosted the event again and helped us raise $8,000 for the Memorial Fund! Following the motorcycle ride attendees enjoyed a barbecue lunch provided by P.I.G.S. BBQ, raffles and a great live show from the Davisson Brothers Band. We are very grateful to many volunteers and businesses that helped make the event a wonderful success.

Holiday Soirée

When: Saturday, December 14, 2013; 8:00 - 11:00 pm
Where: Best Western Grand Venice Hotel, 431 Dual Hwy., Hagerstown, MD

Approximately 100 people braved the icy weather on Saturday, December 14th and enjoyed an evening of holiday cheer while benefitting The Samantha Kelly Memorial Fund. Ashley Plume organized the event held at the Grand Venice Hotel, which included hors d'oeuvres donated by 28 South, beer tasting donated by Victory Brewing and wine tasting by Linganore Wine Cellars. There was dancing and raffle and door prizes awarded throughout the night. Thanks to Ashley and to all the local businesses that helped with the event.

Hub City Ravens Roost Golf Tournament

When: Thursday, September 5, 2013; 7:30 am
Where: Beaver Creek Country Club, 9535 Mapleville Road, Hagerstown, MD

Over 100 golfers participated in the Hub City Ravens Roost #124 Golf Tournament on September 5th. They were welcomed at Beaver Creek Country Club with great weather, two Baltimore Ravens cheerleaders and a great event. The Ravens Roost #124 donated $2,100 of the proceeds from the golf tournament to the Memorial Fund. We thank all the members of Ravens Roost #124, especially tournament organizers Bunky and Charlene Guessford, Roost President Ron Suffecool, and our 'sponsor' for the event, Brian Hadley.

We Play for SRK Volleyball Camp 2013

The week of July 29th was filled with volleyball, learning and fun for 40 girls who attended the We Play for SRK Volleyball Camp held at Williamsport High School. The camp was run by Lea Michael and Emily Crabtree of Williamsport and Becky Fletcher and Kevin Larkin of Frostburg State University. Girls from 3rd through 8th grades had fun learning and improving their volleyball skills. We are very grateful to Lea, Emily, Becky and Kevin for volunteering their time and effort to make this camp a success.




Spikes for Sam Coed Volleyball Tournament 2013

When: Sunday, July 28, 2013; 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Where: Williamsport High School, 5 South Clifton Drive, Williamsport, MD

There were over 22 teams that participated in the first-ever Spikes for Sam Coed Volleyball Tournament held at Williamsport High School on Sunday, July 28th! Brynne Kirsch and Karah Knight organized this event which included the coed volleyball tournament, a cookout, raffles, face painting, Sam trivia and minute-to-win-it games. The over 200 people attending had a great time while remembering Samantha and raising $6,000 for the Memorial Fund! Big thanks to Brynne and Karah and the many volunteers and participants who made it a truly special day.

Samantha Kelly Memorial Benefit & Ride 2013

When: Sunday, May 5, 2013; 12 noon - 5 pm
Where: Williamsport Redmen Lodge, 16129 Lappans Road, Williamsport, MD

Over 600 people came out for the Benefit & Ride to honor Samantha's memory on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the Williamsport Red Men Tribe #84 pavilion. The event, which was hosted by the Williamsport Red Men Riders Club, started with 270 bikers and riders participating in an hour-long motorcycle ride followed by a delicious barbeque lunch provided by Dave's Authentic Carolina Style BBQ. After lunch the Davisson Brothers Band got people on their feet for two great sets of live music. The Benefit & Ride raised $14,500 for the memorial fund!

We are grateful for the many businesses, community organizations, and participants that helped make this event a huge success - thank you!



ZUMBATHON® Event


When: Saturday, March 9, 2013; 10 am - 12 noon
Where: Williamsport High School, 5 South Clifton Drive, Williamsport, MD

The Williamsport High School gymnasium was overflowing for the Zumbathon Event! Over 110 people took part in the Zumbathon and raised $2,700 for the memorial fund!! Zumba Fitness instructor Liz Martz led the participants in an energized Zumba Fitness program for two hours. Everyone enjoyed Liz's enthusiasm and had a great time exercising while raising money for the memorial fund. Beth Strait organized a wonderful turnout of local merchandise vendors and Caity Byrne of the Spiral Spirit Ballon Company added some inflated color to the event.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support the memorial fund - participants, vendors, volunteers and most of all Zumba Fitness instructor Liz Martz.

Spaghetti Dinner

When: Saturday, November 3, 2012; 3 - 7 pm
Where: Williamsport Zion Lutheran Church, 35 West Potomac Street, Williamsport, MD

Brent and Jackie Taylor hosted a spaghetti dinner to benefit The Samantha Kelly Memorial Fund at the Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsport. There was good food and fun for all who attended. The Williamsport High School girls' volleyball team volunteered to help with cleanup and the girls' soccer team came to eat after their win in the regional playoffs. Many volunteers helped with cooking, serving and cleaning up, while others donated desserts and items to be raffled off. The event raised over $1,700 for the memorial fund!

Williamsport Wildcat Volleyball Alumni Game 2012

When: Saturday, October 20, 2012; 12 noon - 5 pm
Where: Williamsport High School, 5 South Clifton Drive, Williamsport, MD

Over 60 alumni played in the first-ever Volleyball Alumni Game at Williamsport High School. There were separate matches for alumni from the 70's/80's, the 90's and the 2000's. In addition to the matches there were t-shirt sales, door prizes, a quilt raffle, concessions and homemade apple dumpling sales. The net proceeds for the event were over $9,000!! Big thanks go to Emily Crabtree for organizing the event and to the many volunteers, sponsors and spectators for donating generously to help make the event a success. Samantha Kelly Memorial Night at Williamsport HS Volleyball

When: Tuesday, September 4, 2012; 6:30 pm
Where: Williamsport High School, 5 South Clifton Drive, Williamsport, MD

The Williamsport High School gymnasium was filled with memorial t-shirts as the community came out to honor and remember Samantha for Samantha Kelly Memorial Night. There was a lot of volleyball to cheer about as well as the Williamsport Wildcats swept the Clear Spring Blazers 3-0 in their first home match of the season. Before the match the Williamsport volleyball team unveiled a banner to retire Samantha's number 2. It was a special night for all who attended.



Williamsport Creamery Fundraiser

When: Friday, August 17, 2012; 5:00pm-10:00pm
Where: Williamsport Creamery, 2 East Potomac St., Williamsport, MD

On Friday, August 17th, from 5:00pm-10:00pm, bring your family, friends and everyone else to indulge in some ice cream and to help a great cause! Ten percent of the night's profit will be donated to The Samantha Kelly Memorial Fund! The Creamery has placed a large order of ice cream for the event and they offer ice cream, snow cones, milkshakes, malts, specialty sundaes and lollipops. We are thrilled to be partnering with Rob and Joy Smith, owners of the Williamsport Creamery, for the event!

Waffle House Fundraiser

When: Saturday, August 11, 2012; All Day
Where: Waffle House, 306 East Potomac St., Williamsport, MD

Our first fundraiser was a great success. The net proceeds were over $14,000!! This included t-shirt sales, baked goods sales, the car wash, bracelet sales, a percentage of the Waffle House sales and generous donations from the community. Big thanks to Shawn Quinn of radio station 94.3 WQCM and to Alicia Notarianni of the Herald Mail for helping get the word out about the fundraiser.
